Let’s talk 12 side hustles that you can start right now! We can never go wrong with having multiple side jobs. Extra money is always a good thing, right? Side hustles can often turn into a not-so-side hustle, more like full-time hustles where you can control your finances, which’s just short of amazing.
12 sides jobs that you can get started on now:
Freelance
Freelancing basically means that you are an independent contractor. You don't work for anybody but yourself. It is where you offer your services to someone else at an agreed price. One of my favorite websites to hire freelancers on is Fiverr.com. There are other websites like upwork.com and thumbtack.com. You can offer anything from makeup services to photography services, gigs for stylists, pretty much any talent that you have that you're willing to do for someone else. You can get paid to do it; you just got to figure out precisely what kind of services you want to offer.
Blog
A blog, or a YouTube channel like a vlog is also another excellent side job that you can start. A blog can be very lucrative, as you have multiple earning opportunities such as affiliate links, google ads, and working with different companies to help promote their goods and services. I started my first blog and YouTube channel when I was in college. I created my first blog using a website called blogger.com; I used to post a couple of times per week and then promote my posts on Pinterest. Before I knew it, my posts were getting so many hits per day, they were ranking on Google, and I was making money from google because there were ads on my blog that people were seeing and clicking on. This is also how many YouTubers get paid, so don’t skip those ad videos!
Teach English
Online websites such as VIP kid and Qkids Teacher offer a lot of work from home type of gigs like this where you can teach someone English online. Usually, these jobs start in the middle of the night because you’re generally working with someone or a child who is in a different country. Sometimes they pay between $14 to $22 per hour depending on what assignment you're on, and I don't know about you guys, but that sounds pretty good.
eBay
eBay is a very lucrative website. If you've ever read the book girl boss, or if you know the story of Sophia amoroso. I think that's her name, the founder of Nasty Gal, that's how she got her start. She was shopping in thrift stores and then reselling her finds on eBay. She would end up making a lot of money from it. But you can sell literally anything on there, like extra stuff in your house that you're not using. Put it on eBay, I'm telling you, I've made like a lot of money from selling old shoes, equipment, and stuff that I just don't use anymore. There are also other websites like poshmark.com, where you can sell your clothes and guess what they don’t have to be designer clothes.
Airbnb
Let me put you guys on the game. If you have extra room in your house or have some type of rental property that's not being occupied, you could set it up on Airbnb. Persons on Airbnb make an average of $4,000 to like $6,000 a month, depending on what location you're in, just by renting out extra space in their home. It's crazy because you don't have to do much. Just to make sure that it is a nice and presentable environment for your guests to stay, listed on the website. Let it go live. And people will pay money to come and stay in your space.
Online Surveys
I know that this is kind of a weird way to side hustle, but I'm telling you guys, I have done it before; there are websites that you can go on that will pay you to do surveys or to test out different websites for them. You can make anywhere from $2 per survey, $50 up to like $2,530, depending on the survey. It's a great way to side hustle, a little extra padding in your bank account. There are websites such as Swagbucks, Survery Junkie and InboxDollars.
Etsy Store Online
Etsy is one of my favorite websites to find unique items/decorations when I am having events and stuffs especially for my daughter. You can set up a store where you can sell prints, graphics, nice quotes for persons to download for even $1 per download. You will be surprised at how many people go on Etsy to find things like this. If you're someone who makes jewelry, shoes, t-shirts, mugs, Bath and Body products, candles, anything that you can make at home, you can sell on Etsy, and you can make money in your sleep. I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty good side hustle to me.
Virtual Assistant
This is a huge low-key position. A lot of business owners and entrepreneurs need help with their businesses. They often outsource to virtual assistants, especially employers who do not have an office space at the moment and are working from home. Virtual assistants get paid anywhere from $7 an hour up to $22 an hour, depending on what tasks you're doing. There are websites like upwork.com, freelancer.com & Fiverr.com, or even creating your own virtual assistant business to advertise your services. You probably would be surprised at how many people do need your services. Even if it's something as simple as just shooting out emails or things that take up a lot of time and time, entrepreneurs don't have a lot of.
Guardianship
This could either be babysitting, dog sitting, house sitting, or one of my favorites substitute teaching. I was a substitute teacher for a while, and I taught at my old high school, which was pretty fun. You get paid per day, and you don't work for anybody, so you’ve complete freedom in accepting which job to do. So that was an excellent hustle for me because I wasn't always available. I needed time to work on my projects; substitute teaching was a great way to make some extra side money without the commitment of being an actual, full-time teacher. Now babysitting, that's another lucrative way to make money; goodness, childcare is expensive! I have a daughter, and even though I work from home, I had to pay for childcare. I opted for this so she wouldn't be running up and down a hallway screaming and I could get my work done. Kids need 24/7 supervision, and as parents, we pay big money for childcare, especially quality childcare. So, if you know someone in your neighborhood that needs help with their kids, inquire, let them know; hey, you know, I'm available to babysit. You can make anywhere from $5 an hour to $20 an hour. Same thing with the house sitting a lot of times persons go out of town. If they have pets, plants, and such, they will require someone to feed their animal, walk their animal, water their plants, etc. I definitely would sign up for one of those websites like SitterCity.com or Care.com. I know people who make a lot of money offering guardianship services, and they're great side hustles. So don't discount them.
Cooking and Baking
When I was younger, my mom used to make dinners on Saturdays; my mom cooked really, really good. People always asked her, Hey, can you cook for me, like they loved her food. So, what my mom decided to do was make a huge pan of food on Saturday morning. Then she would just tell people like, look, I’m selling dinners. She went and got like the styrofoam boxes she'd make, lemonade to go with each meal. Persons would then come and pay like $10 to $12 for dinner. You know, that was a nice little side hustle that my mom had. Now I know people who meal prep, nine times out of 10, you will have an individual they don't have enough time to really go out and go food shopping and then cook for themselves. So, a lot of times, persons will eat out or hire someone to come and do meal prep, and they'll just come and drop off food for the entire week. So, if you like to cook or bake, there is a lot of money to be made, especially when holidays come around like Thanksgiving or Christmas. If you know how to bak, well, put that to skill to use. Bake cakes for birthdays and events, reach out to family and friends, and let them know that you are cooking or baking, which can be a little side hustle for you.
Buying in bulk and selling
Now this is something that I used to do when I was younger. Let me tell you guys when I was in middle school, my aunt would take me to BJs, and I would get the big pack of Twizzlers. It was like a big jar full of Twizzlers that I would get, and I would keep them in my locker. I would do that in between classes; I would sell each Twizzlers for like 25 cents. Do you know how much money I used to bring home? After selling that whole jar of like 500 Twizzlers, I made bread in sixth grade, okay. That's when I understood the power of making your own money. That's when I officially became a hustler. You know, let's say that you work in an office where there are no snacks available, there's no vending machine, there are no food spots nearby. Get yourself a little, you know, cooler, maybe keep a couple of waters, a couple of juices, maybe sodas, go and buy some snack bars and chips in bulk, and just sell them out of your office. If you are in college and you are in a dorm room. Go to BJs or Costco, or Sam's Club and buy snacks in bulk. You can sell to persons in your dorm who aren’t in a position to drive and purchase their snacks or even students who are pulling an all-night study session and may need something to snack on.
Uber and Lyft
if you have a car, it is definitely worth it to sign up for Uber or Lyft and use any of your downtimes to drive. You can get paid on the spot; you don't really have any overhead besides gas, making sure that you have insurance on your car, but that's things that you need in your car anyway. I know people who have a full-time career, who use their spare time to drive for Lyft and Uber, and make a lot of money. So, it's definitely worth it to look into if you're looking for a nice and easy quick side hustle that you can start today and get paid asap.
This is my list of side hustles that you guys can start today! today! Let's start the conversation comment If you are familiar with any of these side jobs or even if you know of another great side hustle that wasn’t listed above that you believe would be great for persons to try.
